Preface
This document lays down the rules, regulations and procedures governing examinations conducted by the autonomous college under the office of the Controller of Examinations. These rules apply to all undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma programmes run by the college unless otherwise specified.
1. Definitions
For the purposes of these rules:
- Academic Council: The statutory body responsible for academic matters.
- Controller of Examinations (COE): The officer responsible for conducting examinations and declaration of results.
- Examination Committee: Committee constituted by the Academic Council to oversee examinations.
2. Powers and Duties of the Controller of Examinations
- Plan, organize and conduct end-semester and other university/college examinations.
- Issue notifications and schedules for examinations.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of question papers, answer scripts and marksheets.
- Coordinate evaluation, tabulation and declaration of results.
- Recommend disciplinary actions for examination malpractice.
3. Examination Committee
Composition: The Examination Committee shall include the COE, Deputy COE, Heads of Departments, two senior faculty members and an external expert if required.
Functions: To review exam schedules, moderation of question papers, evaluation policies and grievance redressal related to examinations.
4. Eligibility & Registration
- Only students registered and admitted through approved procedures are eligible to appear for examinations.
- Students must register for each semester examination within the deadline published by the COE.
- Students with unpaid dues, or who have not completed mandatory attendance/assignments, may be barred from registering.
5. Conduct of Examinations
- Examination schedules will be published at least two weeks in advance.
- Seating arrangements and invigilation duties are the responsibility of the COE's office.
- Mobile phones and electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside examination halls.
6. Evaluation and Grading
Evaluation methods, grading scales and grade-point averages shall be as per the Autonomous College regulations and are summarized below.

7. Revaluation / Recounting
- Students may apply for revaluation or recounting within 15 days of the result declaration, by submitting the prescribed form and fee.
- Revaluation results are final and will be communicated individually.
8. Malpractice & Disciplinary Action
Any act of malpractice will be dealt with strictly. The Examination Committee will recommend punishments ranging from cancellation of the paper to expulsion depending on severity. Students have the right to representation and appeal to the Academic Council.
9. Marksheets, Transcripts & Certificates
- Provisional marksheets will be issued after each semester. Consolidated statements and degree certificates will be issued on completion of programme requirements.
- Reprints/duplicates will be issued on payment and on submission of an affidavit if required.
10. Award of Degree
- The degree will be awarded to candidates who have successfully completed all prescribed courses and earned the required credits as per the curriculum.
- Honours, distinction or medallist criteria shall be governed by the Academic Council regulations.
11. Miscellaneous
- Any matter not covered by these regulations shall be referred to the Academic Council whose decision shall be final.
- These regulations may be amended by the Academic Council; such changes will be notified and published with an effective date.
